Lately, my latest obsession has been drinking tea. I had always seen Tumblr posts and Instagram pictures of tea, and while these have always been one of my favorite posts aesthetic wise, I’ve never actually drank tea myself (besides sweet tea but every Southern gal has drank sweet tea). After looking around Amazon, I kept seeing tea kettles and tea pots being suggested so I decided what the hell, and one night while I was in Walmart, I purchased an electric tea kettle.
While I’ve always wanted to a tea kettle with a cute design on it, I find that this electric tea kettle is super convenient. I just love how I am to plug it up, flip a switch, and within five minutes the water is ready. It even automatically cuts off itself so I don’t have to worry about cutting it off right away if I’m busy. Also, no annoying whistling sound so that’s great.
I purchased seven tea flavors to try because I was excited to try something new. I knew I had to try Green Tea because I’ve always loved Lipton’s Bottled Green Tea so I figured it would be a great flavor to try. I purchased Chai Spice Tea because there’s a cold Chai Tea I buy that’s amazing but it’s made with milk so I wanted to try it when it’s hot and without milk. The rest of the flavors I purchased because of the ingredients and what kind of relief they were suppose to provide such as stress relief. After trying all of these flavors, I’ve decided to share what I think about them.
I got this flavor because one, it said it said on the package that it was for stress relief, and two, I saw on the ingredients it had cinnamon in it and I like cinnamon. When I opened the package for this tea, I noticed it had a strange scent that I wasn’t fond of but I shrugged it off and brewed it anyways which only caused the smell the get stronger. After tasting it, I realized it tasted like it smelled and I wasn’t too crazy over it.
It wasn’t horrible and I’m sure other people would enjoy it because it does have that cinnamon taste but out of all the teas I got, this one is my least favorite. Not to mention that I had to use five sugar cubes to actually get it taste decent enough to drink for me.
I mainly got this one because it said vanilla and I’m a sucker for vanilla flavored stuff. Though, like the Kava tea, it had a strange smell to it that got stronger while brewing. It’s not bad, but again, it’s not something that I can see myself drinking everyday like I can with other flavors on this list. I also had to use a good amount of sugar in this like I did with the Kava tea.
Honestly, I didn’t know how much I would like this one when I first got it. I’m not a big fan of caramel in my drinks, unless it’s a frappe, so I was sure that this one would be further down on my list. Though I was surprised to find out that I actually like the taste of this tea, and the smell as well. I didn’t use any sugar in this one but, in my opinion, it needs some, but that’s the only thing I can really find wrong with it.
4. Chai Spice
I was kind of disappointed with this tea when I first tasted it but I’m sure that was because I was expecting it to taste like the cold version I got before. It didn’t taste like it but it was still a good tea. I absolutely love the smell of this tea (my dad – however – does not love the smell of it), and I love the spice taste to it. The first time I tried it, I didn’t use sugar but the second time I did and I found that it tastes amazing with two or three sugar cubes in it.
I just tried this tea last night and it blew my mind. Seriously, this stuff is amazing and it’s in the top three of the teas I tried. Even my boyfriend said it tasted alright and he doesn’t even like tea. I adore the fragrance of this tea and the taste is amazing, and I especially love the hint of lavender I can taste in it. I can definitely see myself drinking this on a weekly or daily basis.
I had always seen on TV or read in books about people drinking Jasmine tea and I’ve always wanted to try it so when I saw this flavor in the store it was the first one I picked up. I had high hopes on this tea and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Just like the Chamomile tea, it has an amazing fragrance that I love and it tastes amazing. I’m not going to lie, the flowerly taste took me back at first but I quickly got over it because it’s so good.
1. Tazo Zen
Okay, let me start off with saying, I love, love, love green tea. Seriously, I’m obsessed with Lipton’s Iced Green Tea so, of course, this tea was on the top of my list to get. I had really high hopes for this tea when I got it and I definitely was not disappointed. This tea is just so soothing and I absolutely love the hint of lemon with this tea. I plan on actually getting a lemon and putting it in this tea because I feel like it would enhance the flavor of this tea but it’s fine even without lemon with it. Also, I didn’t need sugar to make this taste amazing because it already did which is why it’s at the top of my list.
